Macau’s casino gross gaming revenue (GGR) for the first 17 days of December was estimated at 9 billion MOPs (US$1.12 billion), or about 529 million MOPs per day, citing industry checks on Monday.
Last week’s casino GGR was estimated to amount to 542 million MOPs per day, up from 520 million MOPs per day the previous week, JP Morgan analysts DS Kim, Mufan Shi and Selina Li suggested.
Macau’s bulk GGR is operating at “about 100%” pre-COVID levels, while VIP GGR is operating at “medium/high” pre-COVID levels “out of luck,” the JP Morgan team suggested in December.
Analysts expect the city’s overall GGR to reach about MOP17 billion in December, or an average of about 550 million cases per day, as gaming revenues in the city are expected to “increase further” for the rest of the year through the holidays.
“This also means that fourth-quarter GGR grows 8% quarter-on-quarter (for example, mass is 9% stronger quarter-on-quarter), which in turn could drive 8% to 10% quarter-on-quarter growth in industry EBITDA [earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortization], compared with the historic seasonality of 5% quarter-on-quarter growth before COVID-19,” they said in a note
Macau’s third-quarter GGR rose 7.3% from the previous quarter to MOP $48.81 billion, official data showed. Nearly 61% of the city’s total GGR tally in the third quarter, or MOP $29.77 billion, came from public market baccarat games.
