What is Soccer?
Soccer, which is also referred to as football, is a team sport that is played between two teams of 11 players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by kicking a round ball into the opposing team’s goal. The game is played on a rectangular field with goals at each end. Players pass the ball and try to maneuver it into scoring positions using any part of their bodies except their hands and arms (except for goalkeepers within their own penalty area). The match is won by the team that scores the most goals during the allocated period. Millions of people worldwide, of all ages and athletic abilities, participate in and appreciate the sport of soccer.
History Of soccer
Association football is one of a family of football codes that emerged from various ball games played worldwide since antiquity. In the English-speaking world, the game is now primarily referred to as “football” in Great Britain and the majority of Ulster in the north of Ireland, whereas other football-dominant nations and regions like Australia, Canada, South Africa, most of Ireland (excluding Ulster),[10] and the United States prefer to refer to it as “soccer.” The word “soccer” is also used to refer to the game in Japan, where it is also known as “sakk.” A notable exception is New Zealand, where in the first two decades of the 21st century, under the influence of international television, “football” has been gaining prevalence, despite the dominance of other codes of football, namely rugby union and rugby league.
Soccer derives from Oxford “-er” slang, which was popular at Oxford University in England from around 1875 and is claimed to have been inspired by Rugby School slang. 먹튀검증 Initially spelled assoccer, it was later reduced to the modern spelling.[12] This form of slang also gave rise to rugger for rugby football, fiver and tenner for five pound and ten pound notes, and the now-archaic footer that was also a name for association football. First attested in 1889 in the first form of socca, the word soccer only took on its ultimate form in 1895.
Rules Of Game
Here are the basic rules of soccer:
- The Players: There are 11 players total on a typical soccer squad, including the goalkeeper.
- Objective: To score more goals than the opposition is the goal of the game. When the ball entirely travels across the goal line between the goalposts and under the crossbar, the goal is scored.
- Duration: A soccer match consists of two halves, typically 45 minutes each, with a halftime break. The length of time can, however, change based on the difficulty of the game.
- Start and restart of play: One team kicks off the game, taking possession of the ball from the middle of the field. Play resumes after a goal is scored, as well as after certain fouls and when the ball goes out of bounds.
- Offside rule: When the ball is played to a player, they are deemed to be offside if they are closer to the other team’s goal line than the ball and the last defender (apart from the goalie).
- Fouls and penalties: During the course of the game, a number of infractions may be committed, including tripping, shoving, and handling the ball with hands (aside from the goalkeeper within their own penalty area). Depending on the severity of the offense, fouls may result in free kicks, penalty kicks, or even yellow or red cards.
- Throw-ins: When the ball goes out of bounds along the sidelines, the opposing team is awarded a throw-in. With both feet planted on the ground, the athlete must toss the ball from behind their head using both hands.
- Corner kicks: The attacking side is given a corner kick when the ball crosses the goal line out of bounds but does not go into the net and was last touched by the opposing team. Kicking the ball back into play after positioning it in the corner arc.
The fundamental laws of soccer include a handful of them. Depending on the governing organization and level of play, the whole set of regulations may be longer and more complicated.
