The National Short Track Team is off to its first international competition of the 2023-2024 season.
The team departed Incheon International Airport on Friday for Montreal, Canada, for the first round of the International Ice Skating Union (ISU) Short Track World Cup.
The short track team will compete in the first round of the World Cup from Feb. 20 to 22 before returning home for the second round of the World Cup at the same venue from Feb. 27 to 29 and the ISU Four Continents Championships in Laval, Quebec, Canada, from Nov. 3 to 5.
The new season’s World Cup will consist of six events leading up to next February’s event in Gdansk, Poland.
The fourth of these events will be held at the Mokdong Indoor Ice Center in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, from Dec. 15 to 17.
The men’s short track team is composed of Park Ji-won (Seoul Metropolitan Government), Hwang Dae-heon (Gangwon Provincial Office), Kim Gun-woo (Sportoto), Seo Ira (Hwaseong City Hall), Jang Jang-woo (Korea University), Lee Jung-min (Korea Gymnastics University), Kim Tae-sung (Dankook University), and Lee Jun-seo (Seongnam City Hall), following the results of the national team selection held in April.
The women’s team included Kim Gil-ri (Seongnam City Hall), Shim Seok-hee (Seoul Metropolitan Government), Park Ji-won (Jeonbuk Province), Kim A-rang (Goyang City Hall), Lee So-yeon (Sportoto), Park Ji-yoon (Uijeongbu City Hall), Seo Hwi-min (Korea University), and Lee Yoo-bin (Uijeongbu City Hall).
Choi Min-jeong (Seongnam City Hall), who has been the national team’s ace, decided not to play this season and focus on training in order to adapt to the new equipment and hone her skills.
Meanwhile, Kim Tae-seong and Lee Jun-seo, who were selected as the backups for the men’s national team, and Lee Yoo-bin, who was selected for the women’s national team, will not compete in the tournament.
Kim A-rae-ang will also skip the first and second rounds of the World Cup and compete only at the Four Continents Championships to manage her physical condition. 파워볼분석
