Hyundai Capital snapped a six-game losing streak.
Hyundai Capital swept OK Financial Group 3-0 (26-24, 25-14, 25-18) in straight sets in their Dodram 2023-2024 V-League visit to Ansan Sangryoksu Gymnasium on September 9.
A loss would have tied the club’s record for most consecutive losses, set last year, but Hyundai Capital took a breather and rebounded. Hyundai Capital took the lead in the seesaw first set with two timely blocking points. At 23-23, long setter Kim Myung-kwan blocked a hard hit from OK Financial Group’s Song Hee-chae on the right side. After the OK Financial Group reception collapsed on Ahmed’s strong serve, setter Kim Myung-kwan’s two-step push and an interception by Heo Soo-bong gave Hyundai Capital a 16-11 lead, and the team closed out the match with ease.
Ahmed exploded for 20 points with a whopping 87.50 percent attack success rate, including two service aces on Leo at the end of the third set to complete the Triple Crown (at least three serves, back-attacks, and blocks) for the fourth time this season.
In addition to Ahmed, Hyundai Capital’s offense was evenly distributed, with the wings of Heo Su-bong (15 points) and Hong Dong-sun (10 points) and the centers of Choi Min-ho (6 points) and Chai Pei-chang (real name Pei-chang – 4 points) also contributing.
Hyundai Capital also won the blocking battle 9-2.
