Choi Sa-ra, 21, of Seoul, South Korea, won the women’s alpine ski giant slalom (visually impaired) race at the 21st National Para Winter Games, beating her twin sister Choi Gil-ra, 21, of Gangwon, South Korea .Choi finished the race at Alpensia Ski Resort in Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province, on Jan. 19 in 1 minute, 14.99 seconds, ahead of Choi Gil-ra, who finished in 1 minute, 34.90 seconds. Choi was the youngest South Korean to compete at the Beijing 2022 Winter Paralympics. She continued her winning streak on the domestic stage, winning two gold medals at the FIS Para Alpine Skiing World Cup Cortina 2024 in January.
Choi will complete her second consecutive double if she also finishes first in the giant slalom event on Tuesday. Last year’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) Kim Yoon-ji (18, Seoul, South Korea) got off to an early start with a pair of first-place finishes in the women’s biathlon sprint 4.5-kilometer (seated) and middle distance 7.5-kilometer (seated) races at the Alpensia Biathlon Stadium .Kim will look to add to her gold medal haul on Tuesday when she competes in both cross-country skiing events. Shin Shin-hyun (44, Sejong) won two gold medals today in the biathlon sprint 4.5 kilometers and middle 슬롯게이밍 distance 7.5 kilometers.
