Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min (31) has recorded his 100th assist in Europe.

Son came off the bench in the 27th minute to assist on a theatrical goal in the 24th round of the 2023-2024 English Premier League (EPL) match against Brighton & Hove Albion at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England, at midnight (ET) on Nov. 11.

Tottenham faced a crisis in the 17th minute of the first half when Brighton won the ball in the penalty area after losing possession in a high position. The ball was played to Danny Welbeck, who was tripped by Micky van der Vaan, earning a penalty kick. Pascal Gross stepped up to take the spot kick and put Brighton ahead.

Tottenham equalized in the second half. Rodrigo Bentancur’s pass from the right flank found Dejan Kuluczewski, who slipped a through ball to Pape Sarr, who was cutting in from the second line. Sarr chose to pass to Michy Batshuayi, but a defender’s foot caught the ball and it bounced off the post once before bouncing back for a second goal.

In second-half stoppage time, Son Heung-min stepped up to the plate. With six minutes of stoppage time, Son sprinted down the left side with just over five minutes remaining. After receiving a pass from Hischalisson, Son sent a low cross with his left foot that Brennan Johnson slid in with his right foot.

In the end, Tottenham took the three points thanks to theatrical goals from Son Heung-min and Johnson. With 47 points, Spurs leapfrogged Aston Villa into fourth place in the table. They kept their hopes of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League alive.

The assist set a number of new personal records for Son Heung-min. First, Heung-min earned his 100th assist in Europe’s top five leagues. He reached the milestone with three assists in Hamburg, 11 in Leverkusen, and 86 in Tottenham.

He also ranks 21st in the Premier League in attacking points. Son is tied for 21st place with Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke and former Chelsea and Arsenal player Nicolas Anelka with 173 assists.

Even Kevin De Bruyne, the “Assist Master” who plays for Manchester City, has fewer assists than Son. In 247 games, he has 65 goals and 106 assists for 171 offensive 토토 points. Son Heung-min also has 0.59 attacking points per game.

Son is 23rd on the Premier League’s all-time goalscoring list with 115 goals. He is the third most prolific active player in the Premier League, behind Mohamed Salah and Raheem Sterling. Son is already fourth on the Premier League’s all-time offensive points list for the past decade, passing De Bruyne.

Son was recently sidelined from January to early February due to his call-up to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) 2023 Asian Cup in Qatar. He recently returned to the team after the South Korean national team was eliminated in the quarterfinals, and although he only played two full matches in extra time, he continued to perform well.
