Korean football champions Ulsan HD FC announced Monday their defender Seol Young-woo has joined Serbian side FK Crvena zvezda.
Seol, 25, becomes the second Korean international to sign with Crvena zvezda after midfielder Hwang In-beom.
Ulsan said the two clubs have mutually agreed not to disclose financial details of Seol’s transfer but did confirm that terms and conditions of the move “exceed those of zvezda’s previous offer last winter.”
Seol, born and raised in the southeastern city of Ulsan, has been playing for Ulsan HD since 2020. He was voted the K League 1’s Young Player of the Year in 2021 and grew into an integral part of the club with his versatility, splitting time at both 안전 left and right fullback positions. Ulsan won K League 1 titles in 2022 and 2023, and are currently leading the league through 18 matches this season.
Seol has also collected 16 caps for Korea since making his senior international debut in June 2023. He played in all six matches at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup in Qatar earlier this year, as Korea were eliminated in the semifinals.
Seol, who has logged 120 K League matches for Ulsan, will be sent off in a ceremony at Munsu Football Stadium before Ulsan’s home match against Daegu FC on Wednesday. Seol underwent surgery to address the chronic dislocation of his right shoulder in May and was expected to be sidelined for up to three months.
Crvena zvezda have won a record 10 titles in the Serbian SuperLiga, including the last seven in a row.
